Vaibhav Suryavanshi is a 13-year-old cricketer known as the “cricket wonder from Bihar.” He has made headlines for being the youngest player ever signed in the IPL. The Rajasthan Royals bought him for ₹1.1 crore, setting a new record in the IPL 2025 Mega Auction.

Vaibhav began his cricket career in Samastipur when he was only four years old. His father, Sanjeev, encouraged his talent early on by building a pitch in their backyard. At nine, Vaibhav joined a cricket academy in Bihar.

At 12, he played in the Vinoo Mankad Trophy for Bihar. He scored 400 runs in just five matches. He made his Ranji debut at 12 years and 284 days old. This made him the second-youngest player in the tournament’s history. 

This was just the beginning of his cricket journey. He made headlines by scoring 104 runs off 62 balls in a youth Test match against Australia Under-19 in Chennai. This made him the youngest player to score a century in competitive cricket. He was also the second-fastest to achieve this in youth cricket.

He kept doing well in matches. His strong performances earned him a place on India’s Under-19 team for the ACC U-19 Asia Cup in the UAE. Vaibhav was listed as the 491st player in the uncapped category for the IPL auction. The Rajasthan Royals bought him for a high price of ₹1.10 Crore.

Vaibhav Suryavanshi was born on March 27, 2011, in Bihar. He loved cricket from the age of 4. His father, a former cricketer, encouraged his talent. This support helped Vaibhav join a cricket academy. By 12, he excelled in the Vinoo Mankad Trophy, scoring 400 runs in five matches.

Suryavanshi was chosen for the India B U-19 team. However, he did not do well in the trials for the ICC U-19 World Cup 2024. He performed well at an U-23 selection camp. This led to him joining the Ranji Trophy squad. He made his debut in January 2024. He became the youngest first-class cricketer since 1986.
